About SXML files
The .SXML file extension primarily represents an Oracle Sealed XML Document. It is a heavily encrypted file created using Oracle Information Rights Management (IRM) software. Companies use this format to protect sensitive data, ensuring that only authenticated users can view, print, or edit the underlying XML content.
Because it is a digital rights management (DRM) wrapper, the .SXML format presents severe limitations for standard workflows. It is highly proprietary, requires specialized client software like Oracle IRM Desktop to authenticate, and cannot be parsed by standard web browsers, text editors, or web applications. The reliance on external authentication servers means that if the Oracle server is offline or your credentials expire, the file becomes completely inaccessible.
Users typically want to convert .SXML to standard XML, JSON, or TXT to integrate the raw data into modern web applications or databases. However, standard online converters fail to process it because you cannot bypass the military-grade encryption without the correct decryption keys and active server permissions.
This makes the .SXML file exceptionally difficult to open or convert directly. Usually, only the original Oracle software can unseal and export the data. If our analysis detects an unsealed file or a completely different embedded format (such as a standard Scheme XML plain-text script, which also uses this extension), viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SXML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted XML, SMP3, SPNG and SXL files.

The SXML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SXML converter.
