The main disadvantage of the .stykz format is its proprietary nature. It is not an actual video file. It does not contain rendered pixels. Standard media players like VLC or web browsers cannot open or play it. Sharing a .stykz file means the recipient must also download and install the Stykz software just to watch the animation.
