Extract text from Software Ideas Modeler projects (SIMP)

A .simp file is a project file created by Software Ideas Modeler, a computer-aided software engineering (CASE) tool. It stores visual architecture models, including UML diagrams, SysML, entity-relationship diagrams (ERD), and flowcharts. The internal structure of the file relies entirely on XML data.
The file is designed to be opened and edited exclusively with Software Ideas Modeler. While the underlying code is plain text, reading the actual visual layout requires this specific software.
The main disadvantage of the .simp format is its proprietary use case. If you share this file with clients, stakeholders, or other developers who do not have the software installed, they cannot view your diagrams. Standard web browsers, document readers, and image viewers cannot interpret the proprietary XML schema to draw the shapes.
To share your models effectively, you must convert the .simp file to standard visual or document formats like PDF, PNG, or SVG. Exporting to these targets ensures the diagrams are viewable on any device, though you will permanently lose the ability to edit the interactive structural data.
