Most commonly, a .SAD file is a Sound Archive Data file used in video games like Professor Layton on the Nintendo DS or the classic god-game Black & White by Lionhead Studios. These are proprietary containers holding music, voiceovers, and sound effects. The problem for gamers and modders is that standard media players like VLC Media Player cannot play them directly.
