About RAVI files

The .RAVI file is a Radiometric Video File typically generated by infrared and thermal imaging cameras, such as those manufactured by Optris. Unlike standard video files that only record visual color pixels, a .RAVI file stores exact temperature measurements for every single pixel across every frame. Engineers and researchers use these files for thermal analysis and process monitoring. To open and analyze .RAVI files properly, you need proprietary software like Optris PIX Connect. You cannot open them with standard media players like VLC media player or native operating system apps. Users frequently need to convert .RAVI files because the format is entirely proprietary, extremely large, and impossible to share with clients or colleagues who do not have the specialized software installed. The best target formats for conversion are MP4 or standard AVI if you only need to show the visual thermal color map. If you need the raw temperature numbers, exporting to CSV is the only practical option. Be aware that converting to MP4 permanently discards the radiometric temperature data, baking the current color palette into standard video pixels. Because .RAVI is a closed format that encapsulates raw sensor data, standard online converters fail to process it. Usually, only the original camera software can correctly interpret the data. Our analysis engine can inspect the header and extract embedded standard video streams if they exist inside the container.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RAVI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
