About QWQ files
The .qwq file is an OpenQwaq Auto-Launch File used to automatically connect users to a specific 3D virtual workspace. These files act as system shortcuts that pass server connection parameters to the OpenQwaq client software.
The format presents major challenges for modern users. OpenQwaq is a discontinued, open-source immersive collaboration platform based on Squeak Smalltalk. Because the software is largely obsolete, .qwq files are effectively useless on modern operating systems without emulation or legacy installations. They are entirely proprietary, cannot be opened by standard web browsers, and require specific client-side rendering to execute.
Converting a .qwq file to an image or document is impossible because it contains no visual data. Instead, the best target formats are standard text structures like TXT, XML, or JSON. Extracting the text allows administrators or researchers to recover lost server IP addresses, port numbers, or session credentials stored inside the file.
Standard online converters fail with .qwq files because it is a closed, proprietary settings format meant exclusively for the OpenQwaq engine. If our analysis detects a supported text structure, viewing or conversion to common text formats may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QWQ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The QWQ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QWQ converter.
