About QTE files

A .qte file is primarily a proprietary Quote or Estimate file generated by niche estimating tools like Quick Quote Software (used in industries like countertop fabrication and mold manufacturing). These files are not simple text documents; they contain structured databases of material costs, labor rates, and pricing formulas.

The Problem: Because .qte files are strictly proprietary, you cannot double-click to open them in Microsoft Excel or Notepad. They are "locked" to the specific version of the software that created them (e.g., QuickQuote Standard or QuickBooks legacy exports). If a contractor sends you a .qte file, you are essentially stuck with a digital paperweight unless you own the same $1,500+ software license.

The Solution:

Secondary Use Case: In rare legacy video workflows, a .qte file may be a QuickTime Edit List. These are tiny metadata files used by older versions of Apple QuickTime to define cut points and edits without altering the original video file. These should be converted to a standard container like MOV or MP4 to render the edits permanent.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QTE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
