About QLI files
A .QLI file is a proprietary vector-based quilting pattern used primarily by Statler Stitcher machines manufactured by Gammill. These files contain specific X/Y coordinate instructions (based on the Galil DMC motion control language) that tell the longarm quilting machine exactly how to move the needle to stitch a continuous design.
For most users, the challenge with .QLI files is their lack of interoperability. They are strictly designed for machine execution, meaning you cannot open them in standard image viewers, Adobe Illustrator, or on mobile devices. This is a major limitation if you need to browse a library of patterns without loading them into the machine's dedicated Creative Studio software (which is Windows-only), or if you are trying to use a Statler-designed pattern on a different machine brand like Handi Quilter (which uses .HQF).
To overcome these limitations, we recommend converting .QLI files to SVG for viewing and resizing in vector software, DXF for compatibility with other CAD/CAM systems, or PDF to create printable catalogs of your pattern library. Our tools handle the parsing of the stitch paths to ensure the visual design is preserved without the need for proprietary hardware dongles.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QLI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The QLI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QLI converter.
