About PZ files
A .pz file is most commonly a project file created by Panzoid, a popular web-based tool for designing 3D intros, outros, and wallpapers. These files store the raw "ingredients" of a video animation - camera angles, 3D object geometry, lighting effects, and audio tracks - rather than the video itself. Because a .pz file is essentially a proprietary instruction set (often formatted as JSON/text), it cannot be opened by standard media players like VLC Media Player or video editing suites like Adobe Premiere Pro. Users frequently encounter frustration when attempting to upload a .pz file directly to YouTube or social media, as these platforms do not recognize the format. To use the content, the project must be loaded back into Panzoid Clipmaker and rendered into a standard video format like MP4, MKV, or WEBM.
Less frequently, a .pz file may be a compressed asset used by the Panda3D game engine (using zlib compression) or an engineering data package for AVEVA software. For Panzoid users, the goal is typically converting to Video (for sharing) or JSON (for text-based editing of project parameters). For Panda3D users, the goal is decompression to access the raw 3D assets.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted MKV, EGG, MP4, PNG, PKG, BTW, P3D and MF files.
The PZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PZ converter.
