The .PNO file is a proprietary digital music notation format known as a Windows 8 Piano Song. It was specifically created to store musical note sequences for the "Piano" app, a touch-enabled demonstration program bundled with the early Windows 8 Developer Preview by Microsoft. Unlike standard audio files that contain recorded soundwaves, these files merely instruct the software's internal synthesizer on which notes to play, their sequence, and their duration.
Because this format was an experimental feature tied to a beta operating system from 2011, it is entirely obsolete today.
