About PC7 files
The .PC7 file is a 2D drawing created by PowerCADD version 7, a CAD application developed by Engineered Software specifically for the Mac operating system. Architects, engineers, and designers use these files to store vector graphics, annotations, floor plans, and technical drafting data. You need to convert .PC7 files because they rely on a closed, legacy format locked to the Apple ecosystem. They are proprietary and do not open natively on Windows, Linux, or in modern web browsers. If you share a .PC7 file with a client or contractor who lacks a PowerCADD license, they cannot view or edit the drawing. The best target formats for conversion are PDF for easy viewing, or DXF and DWG for editing in industry-standard software like AutoCAD. Converting to DXF ensures geometry is preserved, though specific proprietary styling or macros might be lost. Because the format is strictly proprietary and documented poorly outside of Engineered Software, standard online converters fail to process it. Usually, only the original PowerCADD software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PC7 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PC7 file to PEM, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use PowerCADD or similar software from the "CAD Drawing Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to PC7, try PowerCADD or another comparable tool in the "CAD Drawing Storage" category.
The PC7 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PC7 converter.
