About OXYGENE files

An .oxygene file is an Oxygene Project File utilized by the Elements compiler ecosystem. It acts as a blueprint, storing XML-based build configurations, file references, compiler directives, and target platform settings (such as .NET, Cocoa, or Java) for applications written in the Oxygene programming language. You can open and manage these files using RemObjects Water on Windows, Fire on macOS, or Microsoft Visual Studio equipped with the Elements extension.

Users often face challenges with .oxygene files because the format is tied strictly to the RemObjects proprietary ecosystem. A user without an active license or the specific IDE installed cannot natively compile or interact with the project structure. Standard online file converters fail completely because this is a domain-specific structural file, not a standard document or media type containing visual data.

The best conversion targets for an .oxygene file are XML or TXT. Converting to these formats strips away the proprietary association, allowing you to easily read the raw project settings, paths, and dependencies in any standard editor. Keep in mind that converting the project file does not convert or extract the actual source code (like PAS files) it references.

Because this is a specialized developer format, it is inherently difficult to convert or execute outside of its native environment. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the build data.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OXYGENE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The OXYGENE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OXYGENE converter.
