About NX1 files

The .NX1 file format is a proprietary database table used by NexusDB. NexusDB is a commercial, high-performance database engine primarily utilized by developers working in Delphi and C++Builder environments. Each .NX1 file stores structured tabular data, including records, fields, and sometimes indexes, acting as the core storage mechanism for NexusDB applications.

Dealing with .NX1 files presents several real-world disadvantages. The format is strictly proprietary. You cannot open it natively on Windows, macOS, or with standard database management tools like DBeaver without specific NexusDB ODBC or ADO.NET drivers. It requires a commercial license or developer tools from Nexus Database Systems to read or export the data properly. This vendor lock-in frustrates users who just need to extract a simple list of records for external analysis.

Because standard tools fail to parse the proprietary binary structure of .NX1 files, your best option is to use the original NexusDB Enterprise Manager to export the tables to universal formats like CSV, SQL, or JSON. Exporting to CSV makes the data instantly readable in Microsoft Excel, while SQL allows migration to PostgreSQL or MySQL. Note that proprietary blob data or custom data types might be lost or converted to raw text strings during this process.

This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert online because the schema and binary layout are closed. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NX1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SAV, MDB and MPD files.

The NX1 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NX1 converter.
