A .ntrk file is a Game Replay or "Network Track" file, primarily associated with War Thunder (developed by Gaijin Entertainment) and the combat flight simulator Pacific Fighters (published by Ubisoft).
Unlike standard video files (like MP4 or MOV), a .ntrk file does not contain actual video footage or pixels. Instead, it stores lightweight telemetry data - a coded log of every coordinate, shot fired, and control input that occurred during the match. When you "play" the file, the game engine (e.g., War Thunder) re-renders the battle in real-time using your computer's graphics card.
Common Friction Point: Users often try to upload .ntrk files directly to YouTube or open them in VLC Media Player, only to find they are unrecognized. Because the file depends on the game's specific assets (maps, tanks, planes) to function, it cannot be converted by traditional file converters.
