An .NTE file is primarily an Asus Eee Note Document. It was generated by the Asus Eee Note EA800, a legacy e-reader and digital notepad that featured a Wacom digitizer for capturing handwriting. A secondary, rarer use for this extension is found in Holonote, a niche text note-taking application designed with a sci-fi LCARS interface. In the Asus ecosystem, these files store your hand-drawn sketches, meeting notes, and book annotations.
Historically, users relied on the proprietary Asus Eee Note PC Sync software to manage and export these files to a Windows PC.
The biggest disadvantage of the .NTE format is its extreme obsolescence. Because the hardware was discontinued over a decade ago, the format is practically dead.
