A .NOR file is most commonly a proprietary video recording exported from a standalone DVR security camera system. These files are notorious for being locked to the manufacturer's specific playback software. In other contexts, a .NOR file can be a compressed archive created by the FreeArc archiver, a normalized X-ray absorption (XANES) data file used by the Athena/Demeter scientific software, or an XML-based building energy efficiency calculation used by CONUEE NOM-020-ENER.
