About MXE files

The .MXE file extension has three distinct and completely incompatible uses: a game data container for Monster Hunter Rise, a playable automation script for Macro Express, and an external object plugin for Max/MSP. Used by Marvelous Inc. and Capcom, the game files pack assets that modders often need to unpack. They are proprietary and difficult to open without specialized modding tools. Meanwhile, Insight Software Solutions uses .MXE files as compiled, standalone macros. These allow users to run automated tasks without installing the full editor. Because they act as executables, they pose a security risk and cannot be easily reverse-engineered to plain text. Standard online converters fail to process .MXE files because they are highly proprietary, compiled, or packed binary formats. You cannot simply convert a macro or a game asset archive into a standard PDF or JPG.
