About MP9 files

The .MP9 file extension represents a Multisim 9 Project File, utilized extensively in Electronic Design Automation (EDA). These files store complete circuit schematics, components, wiring logic, and SPICE simulation parameters. The primary software used to open and edit these files is NI Multisim, developed by National Instruments. Multisim is an industry standard tool for analog, digital, and power electronics education and research.

The .MP9 format is highly proprietary and version-locked. It requires an expensive commercial license to open, simulate, and edit. Users without Multisim 9 or a compatible newer version cannot open the file. Furthermore, standard web browsers and document viewers cannot natively render these schematics, creating significant collaboration bottlenecks.

To share a circuit design with non-engineers, converting the .MP9 file to a standard PDF, JPG, or PNG is highly recommended. However, converting to image formats strips the interactive simulation data and underlying SPICE netlists. For ongoing engineering collaboration, exporting the project to a newer Multisim format like MS14 or a generic CIR (SPICE Netlist) is preferable.

Because the .MP9 format is a closed, proprietary file, standard online converters often fail to process it. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the full simulation data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MP9 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

FAQ

If you want to convert MP9 file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use NI Multisim or similar software from the "Circuit Schematic and Simulation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to MP9, try NI Multisim or another comparable tool in the "Circuit Schematic and Simulation" category.

The MP9 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MP9 converter.
