The .mk4 file is a Schiller medilog ECG Raw Data file. It contains continuous, multi-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings captured by ambulatory Holter monitors. Medical professionals use these files within Schiller medilog DARWIN2 software to analyze heart rhythms over periods ranging from 24 hours to 7 days.
The format is highly proprietary and closed-source. It requires expensive clinical software to open. Files are large and often contain sensitive Patient Health Information (PHI), making them difficult to share or integrate with standard research tools.
