About LVP files

A .lvp file is primarily an encoded voicemail audio recording generated by Avaya or legacy Lucent Technologies PBX systems. A secondary, completely different use case for the .lvp extension is storing cable certification test results created by Fluke Networks software.

When used for voicemail, unified messaging servers email the .lvp audio file to users. This creates an immediate problem: the format is highly proprietary. Mobile phones, web browsers, and standard desktop media players cannot decode it natively. It forces users to install the obsolete, Windows-only Avaya Voice Player. To fix this, convert the audio to MP3 for web streaming or WAV for lossless archiving and editing.

When used for cable testing, .lvp files store detailed network certification data. They are locked to the LinkWare PC ecosystem. Clients cannot open these files to verify testing results unless they also install the specific Fluke software. For client reporting, these databases must be exported to PDF or CSV.
