To convert LRDB databases to another format, you need Adobe Lightroom or other Database software.
Convert a file to LRDB
To convert other file formats to the "Photo Catalog Database" file type, you need software like Adobe Lightroom or a similar tool.
About LRDB files
The .LRDB file is a legacy database created by Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 (released in 2007). It acts as a central repository, storing metadata, tags, collections, and non-destructive edit instructions for imported photographs. It is important to note that it does not contain the actual image files. These obsolete files can still be opened and upgraded by modern versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic.
The main disadvantage of the .LRDB format is its total obsolescence. Since Lightroom 1.1, Adobe abandoned it in favor of the LRCAT format. Consequently, .LRDB files lock your photo organization data inside a 2007-era proprietary schema. Furthermore, if the original RAW or JPEG photo files on your hard drive are moved or deleted, the .LRDB file becomes nearly useless, displaying only broken links and offline previews.
The ideal conversion target is a modern LRCAT catalog, which happens automatically when opened in newer Lightroom software. However, because .LRDB is essentially an SQLite database under the hood, advanced users may want to convert it to CSV or SQLITE to extract raw textual metadata and file paths without needing a paid Adobe subscription.
Standard online converters fail to process .LRDB files because they are complex relational databases disguised under an Adobe-specific extension. Usually, only the original software can properly read the internal schema to export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LRDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LRDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LRDB converter.
