The .LINEA file format is a proprietary drawing document used exclusively by Linea Sketch, an iPad and iOS drawing application developed by The Iconfactory. It stores layered sketches, color palettes, and digital stroke data.
To natively open or edit a .LINEA file, you must use the Linea Sketch app on an Apple device. The primary disadvantage of the .LINEA format is its strict vendor lock-in. It is a closed, undocumented format that cannot be opened by standard graphic editors like Adobe Photoshop or viewed in standard web browsers. If you move away from the Apple ecosystem or need to collaborate with users on Windows or Android, these files become completely inaccessible.
To make the drawings usable across platforms, users must convert .LINEA files to standard image formats like PNG or JPG for web viewing, or PSD (Photoshop Document) to retain layer information. Keep in mind that converting to a flat image will permanently drop the layer separation and editable strokes.
