About LFO files
The .LFO file is a modulation preset used primarily by Alchemy, a powerful software synthesizer originally created by Camel Audio. These files store the mathematical coordinates, curves, and speed rates for Low Frequency Oscillators, which producers use to modulate pitch, filters, and panning over time. You can open these files using the legacy Camel Audio Alchemy plugin or Apple Logic Pro, which integrated Alchemy after acquiring the company.
Users often look to convert or extract data from .LFO files because the original standalone software was abruptly discontinued for Windows and non-Apple DAWs in 2015. The format is heavily restricted, proprietary, and does not contain any actual audio. Because it is purely parameter data, standard online converters fail completely. You cannot convert an .LFO file directly into audio formats like WAV or MP3.
Migrating these shapes to other synthesizers requires tedious manual transcription. This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert without the host software. We will identify the exact file structure, inspect the underlying binary or XML, and attempt to extract readable coordinate text. If our analysis detects readable content, viewing the parameters might help you recreate the LFO shape in your modern synthesizer of choice.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LFO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LFO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LFO converter.
