Convert a file to KX
To convert other file formats to the "Tokenized Script File" file type, you need software like KiXtart or a similar tool.
About KX files
A .KX file is a tokenized script created for the KiXtart scripting language, primarily used by system administrators for Windows network logon automation. Scripts are tokenized using the native KIX32.EXE command-line interpreter. The primary disadvantage of the .KX format is its inherently obfuscated nature. Because it is tokenized into a proprietary binary format, it cannot be read or edited in a standard text editor. Administrators intentionally use this closed format to hide sensitive network routing logic, server IP addresses, and mapped drive passwords from end users. If you lose the original source file, recovering the instructions becomes a major challenge. Users often want to convert .KX to .TXT or plain .KIX to audit or modify the source code. However, converting this file is difficult because it is explicitly designed to block reverse engineering. Standard online converters fail to process it because they cannot interpret the proprietary compilation. While true decompilation requires specialized software, our tools can inspect the binary file, extract readable text fragments, and help you determine the underlying embedded content.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The KX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KX converter.
