About KODE files

The .kode file format is a proprietary encrypted file container developed by 1SQ Technologies for their Key-On-Demand Encryption (KodeFile) application. These files lock documents, images, and videos with AES 256-bit encryption. The major disadvantage of the .kode format is strict vendor lock-in. It requires the proprietary KodeFile software and an exact decryption key to open. It cannot be opened by web browsers or standard operating systems. Because the data is cryptographically scrambled, standard online converters cannot process the file directly. Users must first decrypt the file using the original software before converting the underlying data to standard targets like PDF, JPG, or MP4. This closed, encrypted nature makes it frustrating to manage without the right credentials. Often, only the original KodeFile software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KODE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The KODE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KODE converter.
