About KMV files
A .KMV file is a Mobile DJ Video File originally created by the Mobile DJ application bundled on older Sansui mobile phones, such as the Sansui H50T. While it features a highly obscure extension, the file itself is technically a standard Matroska video (MKV) container simply disguised under a different name.
The biggest disadvantage of the .KMV format is aggressive software rejection. Because the extension is virtually unknown outside of legacy mobile hardware, standard media players like QuickTime or Windows Media Player will completely fail to recognize the file. You cannot natively import it into video editing suites like Adobe Premiere Pro or upload it directly to platforms like YouTube and TikTok. The file is effectively locked out of modern ecosystems until the extension is addressed.
To make your video usable, you need to convert it. For universal playback, web uploading, and mobile sharing, convert your .KMV to MP4. If you want to preserve the exact original video and audio streams without any re-encoding loss, convert it to MKV, which properly corrects the file container.
