About KADEREPLAY files

The .kadereplay file format stores gameplay input sequences for the Kade Engine, a widely used modification framework for the open-source rhythm game Friday Night Funkin'. It records keystrokes and timestamps rather than rendering actual video frames, allowing players to save and review their rhythm game performances. You can only open and replay these files natively using the Kade Engine client. The format is highly dependent on the specific game version and song chart. The primary disadvantage of a .kadereplay file is that it is not a video. You cannot upload it to YouTube, share it on Discord, or open it in standard media players like VLC. Furthermore, if the recipient does not have the exact same mod, song, and engine version installed, the replay will desynchronize or fail to load entirely. Users typically want to convert these files into standard video formats like MP4 or MKV for easy sharing. However, standard online video converters fail because there is no video data inside the file to encode. It is a closed, proprietary data sequence. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data by playing it back while you use screen recording software. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KADEREPLAY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
