About JDAT files

A .JDAT file is a proprietary data container created by J&ASoft applications. Software developers use these files to store configuration settings, user data, or internal application states. The main disadvantage of the .JDAT format is its proprietary nature. It is heavily restricted to the original software ecosystem. Files often contain binary or serialized data. This means you cannot open them natively in web browsers, and standard text editors like Notepad++ will display unreadable gibberish. You depend entirely on the original software to access your own data. Users frequently need to convert .JDAT files to open formats like CSV, JSON, or XML to migrate data or analyze it in tools like Microsoft Excel. However, standard online converters fail to process these files because the internal schema is closed and undocumented. Often only the original J&ASoft application can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your JDAT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The JDAT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JDAT converter.
