About IWXDATA files

A .iwxdata file is a proprietary data container generated by physiological data acquisition hardware from iWorx Systems. These files store raw time-series data, such as analog and digital signals collected during biological experiments (like ECG, EEG, or muscle tension recordings). They are exclusively created and managed by the LabScribe software suite.

The main disadvantage of the .iwxdata format is its proprietary lock-in. You cannot natively open these files without an active license and installation of the native LabScribe software. Furthermore, these files frequently exceed 100MB due to the high sampling rates required for accurate physiological recordings. This makes the format extremely difficult to share with data scientists, statisticians, or colleagues who rely on standard analytical environments like Python, R, or SPSS.

To analyze this data externally, you must convert .iwxdata files to open, universal formats like CSV (Comma Separated Values) or TXT. While converting to CSV perfectly preserves the raw numerical data points, you will likely lose hardware-specific calibration metadata or proprietary software annotations.

Because this is a closed, proprietary binary format, standard online converters almost always fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. Our platform will inspect the file's internal structure and extract any readable underlying text or embedded data streams.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IWXDATA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The IWXDATA Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IWXDATA converter.
