About IBB files

The .IBB file is an ImgBurn Project File created by ImgBurn, a lightweight optical disc authoring software developed by Lightning UK!. It is used specifically in the software's "Build" mode to store project settings, directory structures, disc labels, and the exact local file paths needed to generate a disc image.

A major disadvantage of the .IBB format is its strict dependency on local environments. An .IBB file does not contain any actual media, video, or data files; it is merely a blueprint. Because of this, it is usually only a few kilobytes in size. If you move the original source files on your hard drive, or if you send the .IBB file to another user without the accompanying data, the project becomes completely useless and will fail to build.

Users frequently attempt to convert .IBB files directly to ISO, MP4, or BIN. Standard online converters fail to process this because the required media data is physically absent from the file. You cannot convert an instruction manual into a video file. To get a playable disc or image, you must convert the project by "building" it natively using the original source files.

The most pragmatic conversion targets for an isolated .IBB file are TXT or XML. Extracting the file to plain text allows you to read the internal file paths and recover a list of the media files you need to find.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, it is extremely difficult to port the project to other burning software like Nero or Ashampoo.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IBB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PNG and JPEG files.
