A .hoop file is a data file encrypted by the HOOP ransomware, a variant of the notorious STOP/Djvu ransomware family. It locks user documents, images, and videos, appending the .hoop extension to the original filename. Users typically need a dedicated decryption tool such as the Emsisoft Decryptor to restore access, rather than a standard viewer. Victims desperately want to convert these files back to their original formats like DOCX or JPG. However, standard conversion is practically impossible because the file content is heavily scrambled using advanced cryptographic algorithms like AES-256.
