About GTXML files

A .GTXML file is a working title project created by vMix GT Designer (developed by StudioCoast). It contains text, animation configurations, and graphic overlay data used for lower-thirds and scoreboards in live broadcasting.

Unlike self-contained formats, .GTXML has a major disadvantage: it only stores references to local images rather than embedding the images themselves. If you send this file to another computer, all imported graphics will break unless the recipient has the exact same file paths. To share complete templates safely, users must export them as a GTZIP instead. Furthermore, because this format is highly proprietary to the vMix ecosystem, it cannot be imported into standard video editors like Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

If you need to view or share the data outside of vMix, we recommend converting to standard XML or TXT. This allows you to extract the text strings, data sources, and configuration settings. Standard online converters fail to process this file into a video or image because it relies exclusively on the proprietary vMix rendering engine. Our platform can inspect the internal XML structure, allowing you to view the raw code and easily extract your text layers without requiring a costly software installation.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GTXML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The GTXML Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GTXML converter.
