Convert GNP to another file type
To convert GNP save files to another format, you need GNXAS or other Data software.
Convert a file to GNP
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Data or Save" file type, you need software like GNXAS or a similar tool.
About GNP files
A .GNP file typically functions as a GNPeak Output File or a GenePool Save File. In the scientific realm, the GNXAS software suite uses the GNPeak utility to analyze atomic clusters and identify sub-clusters for X-ray absorption (EXAFS) cross-section calculations. The resulting .GNP file lists these multi-body configurations for rapid inspection. Alternatively, artificial life enthusiasts encounter .GNP files as save states from GenePool, an evolutionary simulation game by JJ Ventrella where virtual organisms evolve over time.
Because these are highly specialized and proprietary formats, they present immediate roadblocks for everyday users. Standard browsers and basic operating systems cannot open them natively. A GenePool .GNP save file is intended exclusively for the game engine and cannot be meaningfully converted to image or standard document formats. Similarly, GNPeak output files contain specific scientific configuration data meant solely for researchers or the GNXAS program pipeline. Standard online converters completely fail to process .GNP files because they lack the specific parsers to read artificial life simulation logic or EXAFS scattering paths.
If you need to extract the raw data from a GNPeak file, your best bet is converting it to a plain text format like TXT or CSV for viewing in a standard spreadsheet or text editor.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GNP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GNP file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use GNXAS or similar software from the "Data Analysis Output or Save" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to GNP, try GNXAS or another comparable tool in the "Data Analysis Output or Save" category.
The GNP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GNP converter.
