About FLIPANIM files

A .flipanim file is a proprietary animation project file created by FlipAnim, a web-based drawing tool used to make digital flipbooks. It stores individual frames, drawing strokes, layer data, and playback timing.

The main disadvantage of the .flipanim format is its severe ecosystem lock-in. Because it is a proprietary project file and not a standard media format, it cannot be opened by standard media players, web browsers, or professional animation software like Adobe Animate. You cannot directly upload a .flipanim file to YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram. It requires a live internet connection and the original web application just to view your work.

To share or edit your animation outside of the FlipAnim website, you must convert the file. The most practical target formats are GIF for simple web sharing or MP4 for video playback. Standard online converters will fail to process this file because only the original FlipAnim app understands the proprietary stroke data. Our tools can inspect the file contents and show internal data. If our analysis detects supported underlying image data, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FLIPANIM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
