About F64 files
The .f64 extension represents two distinct file types that confuse users due to their technical nature. The most common variation (approx. 64%) is a Base64 encoded document, typically generated by Viafirma or Spanish government Facturae e-invoicing systems. These are essentially text files containing a long string of alphanumeric characters that represent a binary file - usually a signed PDF invoice, XML data, or P7M envelope - that has been encoded for safe transmission. Users frequently experience issues here because standard PDF viewers like Adobe Acrobat cannot open an .f64 file directly; it must be decoded back to its original binary format to be viewable.
The secondary, niche format is a Raw 64-bit Audio file (IEEE 754 floating-point). Unlike standard WAV files, these raw containers lack a header, meaning they contain no internal information about sample rate or channel count. If you try to play this file in a standard media player, it will fail. To open it, you must use audio editors like Audacity or Adobe Audition and use the 'Import Raw Data' function, manually specifying the parameters (usually 64-bit float, little-endian). For most users, the goal is converting these raw streams to a standard WAV or MP3 for easy playback.
Convert.Guru analyzes your F64 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The F64 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our F64 converter.
