About EFKMODEL files
The .efkmodel file is a highly specialized 3D model format utilized by Effekseer, an open-source particle effect creation tool. Game developers and VFX artists use these files to define the 3D shapes of custom particles within their visual effects. Because this is an internal engine format, it comes with severe limitations outside of its native ecosystem. Standard 3D modeling applications like Blender or Autodesk Maya cannot open .efkmodel files natively. The format is heavily optimized for fast rendering within particle systems, meaning it lacks standard interoperability data found in generic 3D formats. Users typically need to convert .efkmodel files back into standard formats such as OBJ, FBX, or GLTF to modify the mesh or reuse the asset in a different game engine. However, converting this format is notoriously difficult because standard online converters fail to parse its proprietary structure. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the geometric data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EFKMODEL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The EFKMODEL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EFKMODEL converter.
