About DXO files

A .DXO file is a DesignXOver Speaker Circuit Design file, fundamentally used by audio engineers to mathematically simulate speaker crossover outputs. These specialized files store simulated sound pressure level responses and circuit filter data to help optimize speaker function before manufacturing. The format is tightly bound to XSim, a niche, free Windows application developed by Liberty Instruments. Because .DXO is a highly specialized engineering format, it natively lacks support in standard web browsers, mobile devices, or common office suites. Sharing raw .DXO files with clients or non-engineers is highly frustrating; without the specific software installed, the file is perceived as a broken, unrecognized data blob. Furthermore, the reliance on a single, platform-specific piece of software means long-term archiving poses a serious risk if XSim becomes obsolete. Converting the file to universally supported formats like TXT, CSV, or PDF is the most pragmatic workaround. Because a .DXO file is essentially constructed from plain text - cataloging power sources, resistors, inductors, and capacitors - you can easily extract the raw schematic parameters. Note that converting to a text or document format will preserve the exact circuit values but will strip away XSim's interactive frequency response graphs and impedance visualizers. Like many obscure CAD and engineering formats, standard online converters immediately fail when asked to process a .DXO file because they do not recognize the extension. Even if you lack the original engineering tools, you can still recover the raw data.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DXO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

FAQ

If you want to convert DXO file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use XSim or similar software from the "Speaker Circuit Simulation File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to DXO, try XSim or another comparable tool in the "Speaker Circuit Simulation File" category.

The DXO Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DXO converter.
