Convert DNE to another file type
To convert your DNE file to another format, you need Norsys Netica or other Data software.
Convert a file to DNE
To convert other file formats to the "Probabilistic Model File" file type, you need software like Norsys Netica or a similar tool.
About DNE files
The .dne extension represents a split ecosystem of file types, creating confusion for users. The most functional format is the Netica Text File (DNET format) used by Norsys Netica for Bayesian network modeling. These ASCII-based files store probabilistic nodes and decision networks in a human-readable text structure. While great for debugging and version control (unlike the binary NETA format), they are larger and slower to load. Users often need to convert these to NETA for performance, or to PDF/Image formats for academic papers and reports.
However, a significant portion of .dne files (approx. 28%) are identified as .NET Executables or Assemblies, often associated with the Microsoft .NET Framework. In some enterprise environments, executables are renamed to .dne (potentially meaning "Do Not Execute" or "DotNet Executable") to bypass email filters or security restrictions. Additionally, around 17% of these files are Credit Card Transaction Logs generated by Redecard (Rede) payment systems. These are proprietary data dumps often locked to specific POS software.
Practical Advice:
For Netica Models: Convert to NETA for efficiency, or print to PDF for sharing.
For Logs/Text: Change the extension to TXT or open with a text editor to view raw data.
For Executables: Treat with extreme caution; scan for malware before attempting to rename to EXE.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DNE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

FAQ
If you want to convert DNE file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Norsys Netica or similar software from the "Bayesian Network Modeling" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to DNE, try Norsys Netica or another comparable tool in the "Bayesian Network Modeling" category.
The DNE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DNE converter.
