About DF1 files
The .df1 file extension is most commonly associated with DataFlex database files developed by Data Access Worldwide. It can also represent legacy Omnis Native Datafiles or Omnis7 database files. These files store structured records, tables, and operational data for custom business applications. To open or interact with these files natively, users typically need a DataFlex environment, DataFlex ODBC drivers, or the specific legacy Omnis database software. The major disadvantage of the .df1 format is its proprietary nature. Files cannot be easily opened in standard database managers like MySQL or spreadsheet software like Excel. If you do not have the original application or an active license, accessing the raw data is extremely difficult. The data schema is usually undocumented for outside tools. Users often need to convert .df1 files to .CSV, .SQL, or .XML to migrate their data to modern systems or run analytics. However, direct conversion usually requires exporting directly from the original application. Because this is a closed, proprietary database format, standard online converters fail to process it. The host software is usually required to properly read or export the structured data.
