The .DCMF file is a proprietary catalog database created by DiskCatalogMaker, a macOS utility developed by Fujiwara Software. It stores metadata, file names, folder structures, and archive attributes of scanned hard drives, CDs, and network volumes. Users rely on this format to search offline storage media without mounting the physical disks.
The main disadvantage of the .DCMF format is its strict vendor lock-in. It is completely proprietary and designed exclusively for macOS. You cannot open these files natively on Windows, Linux, or standard web browsers. If your software trial expires, you lose your license, or you migrate to a different operating system, your entire catalog of indexed drives becomes completely inaccessible.
To safely preserve your data, you must convert your catalogs to open, platform-independent formats like CSV or TXT. However, this file format is difficult to open or convert online because the database structure is closed. Standard online converters will fail to process it because they cannot parse the proprietary binary schema. Often, only the original DiskCatalogMaker software can properly read or export the file tree data. We can identify the file format, inspect the binary file, and show extracted text or internal content. If our deep analysis detects a supported underlying database structure, viewing or partial conversion to CSV may still be possible.
