About CNDX files

A .cndx file is a proprietary label and page layout document originally created by the now-discontinued Avery DesignPro for Mac software. These files were heavily used by individuals and small businesses to design printable media, including address labels, name tags, greeting cards, and CD/DVD labels. The format stores text, imported clip art, custom shapes, and the exact dimensional layout required to print perfectly on Avery-branded paper products. You can read more about Avery Products Corporation on Wikipedia.

Users desperately need to convert .cndx files because the software used to open them is effectively dead. Avery DesignPro for Mac is a legacy 32-bit application. Since Apple completely dropped support for 32-bit apps with the release of macOS Catalina in 2019, modern Mac users cannot install or run the software. Furthermore, the format is entirely proprietary. It requires a specific, outdated environment to function, and modern alternatives like Avery's cloud-based Design & Print Online frequently fail to properly import these old desktop-based files. This leaves users locked out of their own address books and custom label templates.

The ideal conversion target for a .cndx file is a PDF document. Converting to PDF preserves the strict spatial layout and dimensions required for printing on physical label sheets. Alternatively, converting to raster images like PNG or JPG can be useful for saving the visual design of a business card. However, extracting this data without the original software often results in the complete loss of editable text and vector shapes.

Because .cndx is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters almost always fail to process it. Only the original Avery DesignPro software possesses the exact algorithms to correctly parse the layout measurements. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extracting your data may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CNDX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
