The .chproj file is a proprietary project file created by Adobe Character Animator. It stores character rigging instructions, timeline settings, behaviors, and audio tracks, but it does not contain the actual media itself.
This format comes with severe disadvantages for casual users. It is entirely proprietary and requires a costly, active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription to open. A major limitation is that a .chproj file is useless on its own; it requires a matching Ch Data folder containing the actual linked assets, such as Adobe Illustrator (AI) or Adobe Photoshop (PSD) files. Standard web browsers and media players cannot read or open it.
Standard online video converters fail to process .chproj files because they are complex project databases, not raw video files. To properly convert a .chproj into a shareable format, you must open the project within the original software and export the timeline via Adobe Media Encoder to standard targets like MP4 (H.264), MOV, or PNG image sequences.
