About BSXP files

The .BSXP file is a BimSens Project Configuration file created by BimSens, a specialized integration software developed by Striped Horse. It is used to store connection strings, data layouts, and mapping rules that link 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) components in host applications like Autodesk Navisworks or Revit to external SQL databases and APIs.

The primary disadvantage of the .BSXP format is its highly proprietary nature. The file is completely useless without an active BimSens installation and the exact database credentials it references. Sharing a .BSXP file with a team member who lacks the correct BIM software licenses or network access will result in broken data connections and unreadable project parameters.

Users frequently need to convert or extract data from .BSXP files into standard formats like XML, JSON, or CSV. This allows project managers to review database mapping rules and connection strings without requiring an expensive CAD or BIM license. However, directly converting the file usually means losing the active bi-directional data links to the 3D model.

Because this file format is essentially a closed, proprietary database mapping configuration, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as internal XML structures or plain text configurations - viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BSXP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The BSXP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BSXP converter.
