About BO3 files

A .bo3 file is a Minecraft BO3 Object used by world generation mods like Terrain Control and Open Terrain Generator (OTG). It acts as a structural blueprint, defining custom features such as trees, boulders, dungeons, and buildings using grid coordinates and block IDs. The main disadvantage of the .bo3 format is its strict dependency on specialized Java-based mods. It is a closed, highly specialized game asset. You cannot load it directly into vanilla Minecraft without the associated mod installed, nor can you open it in standard 3D modeling software. To use these structures in unmodded gameplay or share them with server administrators, you need to convert them. The best target formats are SCHEMATIC for use in third-party map editors like MCEdit, or NBT for vanilla Minecraft Structure Blocks. You can also convert it to TXT to mass-edit block coordinates and spawn parameters. This format is notoriously difficult to process because it lacks standard 3D geometry data, relying entirely on proprietary game block IDs. Standard online converters will fail to understand it.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BO3 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
