Extract text from backup projects (BIFX)

To convert other file formats to the "Backup Project File" file type, you need software like Get Backup Pro or a similar tool.
The .BIFX file is a project configuration file created by Get Backup Pro, a macOS utility developed by BeLight Software. These files act as the blueprint for archiving tasks, storing essential parameters such as source file paths, destination directories, compression levels, and automated schedules. They do not contain the actual backed-up media or documents.
Because .BIFX is a proprietary, closed format, it suffers from severe interoperability disadvantages. It is completely unreadable on Windows or Linux operating systems and requires a specific, paid macOS application to execute. Users frequently attempt to convert these files under the false assumption that they contain their missing photos or databases. In reality, you cannot convert a configuration file into a JPG or MP4.
Standard online converters fail to process .BIFX files because they lack the necessary parsers for closed macOS backup schemas. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, you can bypass this limitation to extract the raw configuration data into TXT or XML formats to review your folder paths.
