About BBCD files
A .bbcd file is a proprietary CAD and CAM document created by BobCAD-CAM. It is heavily used in CNC machining to store 2D/3D geometry alongside specific manufacturing toolpaths and machine setups.
Because the format is strictly proprietary, it carries significant disadvantages for collaboration. Users without a costly BobCAD-CAM license cannot open it, and standard web browsers or generic image viewers cannot render its contents. Relying entirely on this format can trap your engineering data within a single software ecosystem.
The best targets for conversion are standard formats like STEP, IGES, or DXF. However, be aware that converting to these universal CAD formats means losing all CAM-specific data, such as toolpaths and G-code generation rules.
This file format is notoriously difficult to process because the data structures are closed. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the 3D data. We inspect the file at a binary level; if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BBCD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BBCD file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use BobCAD-CAM or similar software from the "CNC Machining & CAD/CAM" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to BBCD, try BobCAD-CAM or another comparable tool in the "CNC Machining & CAD/CAM" category.
The BBCD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BBCD converter.
