About AWDB files

The .AWDB file is an Access Walker Database file, originally developed by ISS Data Security. It serves as the primary storage container for the Access Walker password management software. The file holds user login credentials, secure notes, and other sensitive identity information in a highly structured, encrypted format.

The most significant disadvantage of the .AWDB format is its proprietary, closed-source nature and its status as legacy software. Because the database is heavily encrypted using industry-standard AES and Blowfish algorithms, you cannot simply open the file in a text editor or a standard database viewer. Furthermore, Access Walker is no longer actively maintained, meaning users frequently face compatibility issues on modern operating systems.

To convert an .AWDB file into a more accessible format - such as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) or TXT file for importing into modern password managers like Bitwarden or 1Password - you must use the original Access Walker software. Only the native application, when provided with the correct master password, can decrypt the contents and export the data. Standard online converters will fail to process this file because they cannot legally or technically bypass the encryption layer. Our platform will analyze the file's binary signature to verify its integrity, ensuring the file is a genuine Access Walker Database and hasn't suffered from data corruption before you attempt to open it.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AWDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The AWDB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AWDB converter.
