About ASVF files

An .ASVF file is an Asphyre Sphinx Archive File primarily used to store 2D and 3D game assets. It functions as a specialized container that bundles textures, audio, scripts, and models into a single file for applications built with the Delphi and FreePascal programming languages.

The format was created for the Asphyre Sphinx Framework, originally developed by Afterwarp Development. It operates as a virtual file system optimized for fast read speeds during game runtime.

Users typically need to convert or extract .ASVF files to recover the raw media inside. The main disadvantage of this format is its proprietary, closed nature. Standard archive utilities like WinRAR or 7-Zip cannot parse the custom directory headers used by the Asphyre engine. Furthermore, the format cannot be natively inspected by modern web browsers or standard operating systems, locking assets away behind a proprietary wall.

The most practical conversion target is a standard ZIP archive, or extracting the individual embedded assets into universal formats like PNG for graphics and WAV for sound. Be aware that extracting closed game archives often results in the loss of the original file names and folder structures.

Because this file format is heavily localized to specific software, it is difficult to open or convert. Often, only the original software or custom community extractors can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ASVF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
