About AIFB files

The .aifb file is an AIF Builder Project File used by the discontinued Symbian operating system development ecosystem. It stores project settings, metadata, and references to icon bitmaps used to compile Application Information Files (aif) for legacy Symbian OS apps. Historically, developers opened and compiled these using the AIF Builder tool bundled within the Symbian C++ SDK. The .aifb format is entirely obsolete and deeply disadvantaged today. Symbian OS is dead, and modern operating systems cannot natively run the legacy SDK tools. This proprietary project format requires a discontinued toolchain, making it useless for modern mobile development. Users often find these files in old source code archives and struggle to read the app metadata or extract the original icon assets.
