To convert other file formats to the "Cryptographic Key File" file type, you need software like Advanced Encryption Package or a similar tool.
The .aepkey file is an Advanced Encryption Package Key file. It stores cryptographic keys used by Advanced Encryption Package (AEP) to lock and unlock encrypted files. Users generate these keys to share secure access without transmitting raw passwords over insecure networks.
The main disadvantage of this format is its strictly proprietary nature. It is heavily locked into the InterCrypto ecosystem. You cannot open it with standard text editors or web browsers, and it requires a paid desktop software license to function properly.
Standard file converters fail completely with .aepkey files. You cannot simply convert a proprietary encryption key into a standard document format like PDF or TXT. If you need to use the key in another system, you must export it from within AEP itself, often to standard targets like PEM or CER if supported by the software.
Because this is a closed format, it is extremely difficult to open outside its native app. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
